American Independence
Overview
The 90 guest American Independence offers a comfortable exploration along the East Coast of the U.S. Its small size allows for travel through the many narrow rivers and shallow bays of the Eastern Seaboard. The 2010 built ship has all the comforts of home and a casual atmosphere on board. Spacious lounges are gathering points for cocktails, entertainment, or an afternoon lecture with panoramic views of the passing scenery, and the dining room offers a scrumptious regional menu that changes daily. Fellow travellers become fast friends as we explore U.S. rivers and waterways on American Independence.
Independence Class ships are styled after American Cruise Lines’ original coastwise fleet. Traditional in all respects, these hardy pioneers offer exceptional value as they travel along both the East and West Coasts. Each ship carries just 90 guests and offers the same great service for which American Cruise Lines is famous.
Independence Class ships were introduced in 2005 and travel most of the same itineraries as the Coastal Cats and Constellation Class ships. Many staterooms feature private balconies and, though just slightly smaller than typical American Cruise Lines rooms, still offer a generous amount of space for a comfortable exploration. Cruise Close to Home® aboard the Independence Class.

Staterooms follow the ship’s congenial nature. With lightly colored interior décor and a generous amount of space, each room is a comfortable sanctuary. Standard rooms begin at over 250 square feet. Second and third deck rooms feature a private balcony, while suites offer unprecedented space for this class of ship.
American Independence is stabilized and also features a sun deck, putting green, and fitness center. The ship is 226 feet long and was built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD.
